What is Cumberland@Home?
We are excited to announce Cumberland@Home! Cumberland@Home is a remote-learning opportunity to allow students to continue learning beyond the walls of our classrooms. All Pre-K-12 materials will extend learning opportunities previously taught by classroom teachers. These review materials will help deepen our students’ understanding and prepare them for the end-of-year standardized assessments. While students are engaged in Cumberland@Home, assignments may be completed virtually for high school students via Google Classrooms and via paper and pencil assignments for Pre-K through 8th grade. These assignments will be provided prior to the Cumberland@Home day. Students will access Google Classroom the way that they have previously accessed it at school.

These items are for the enrichment and will only be graded for completion. All materials cover content that has been previously taught and serve as review and enrichment. These materials are not intended to be core instruction. EC teachers will be in contact with parents/guardians.

Best Practices for Cumberland@Home:
● Create a consistent schedule and learning space for your student
● Allow students to work on Cumberland@Home in increments of 20 – 30 minutes at a time (depending on age) for a maximum of 3 hours daily

Note: All work completed while engaged in Cumberland@Home is due to your child’s teacher no later than three days after they return to school. Assignments will be assessed according to school and/or teacher expectations.

North Carolina High School Athletic Association LogoCHAPEL HILL, NC – Due to the threat from COVID-19, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) has made the decision to postpone the 2020 Men’s and Women’s Basketball State Championships indefinitely.

“As much as we would like this opportunity for our student-athletes, coaches, and their communities, we know that ultimately any decision we make must err on the side of caution,” said Commissioner Que Tucker.

The Board of Directors also moved to suspend interscholastic athletics beginning at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020, through Monday, April 6th, 2020. The NCHSAA Board of Directors will assess this situation regularly over the next few weeks. This includes all workouts, skill development, practices, and contests.
