Due to numerous road closures, flooding and hazardous road conditions that still exist, the Cumberland County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, September 24, 2018. Breakfast will not be served and morning Prime Time will not be available. Also, Wednesday, September 26 will be a full day of school for students who follow the Traditional Calendar instead of an early-release day.

Additionally, Dr. Connelly’s CLC3 Tour scheduled for Monday, September 24 has been postponed and will be scheduled for a later date to be determined.

In response to the impact of Hurricane Florence, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved the Cumberland County Schools for Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance, which includes offering breakfast and lunch to all students district-wide at no charge, beginning Monday through October 31. Thank you

In light of the aftermath of Hurricane Florence and the evacuation of numerous students, employees, and their families, the Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will be closed for students on Thursday, September 20 and Friday, September 21. On both days, an Optional Workday for All Personnel will be observed. Make-up days will be announced at a later time.
The CCS continues to partner with County officials to assess road conditions, including the structural integrity of bridges and other routes that school buses travel to transport students.
“During this week, many of our employees have been working around the clock to survey any damage caused by the storm to ensure our buildings are safe for students and staff to return to school,” said CCS’ Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr. “We are thankful to them as well as our City, County, and State officials, who have kept us abreast of conditions and have worked with us in setting up and maintaining shelters across Cumberland County for displaced families. I truly believe that trying times like these show the true strength and togetherness of our community.”
Prime Time will be closed on Thursday, September 20 and Friday, September 21.
All after-school activities and events are canceled through Sunday, September 23.
