The JBHS Theatre Department is having a fairytale character luncheon on Saturday April 21st, here at Jack Britt (with the assistance of our fabulous SGA!). You may be thinking that this sounds familiar, and you would be right! We tried to hold the luncheon in January but had to cancel, and now we are determined to bring forth an awesome luncheon experience!

If you are interested, tickets cost $15 if purchased before April 16 and $20 if purchased after April 16. We vision ourselves as family friendly, and open to the whole family. Everyone who comes in must have a ticket, or be under the age of 4. All children age 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please email hillarybogers@ccs.k12.nc.us if you would like to make a reservation.

Many beverages contain added sugars and often little or no nutrients, while others may provide nutrients but too much fat and too many calories. Jazz up your water by adding slices of fruit or fresh mint, rosemary, or basil. Try these Tips for Making Better Beverage Choices. For more helpful healthy tips visit wellness.ccs.k12.nc.us.

Your child’s safety is a priority in the Cumberland County School System. Each school has a crisis team and a plan for responding to a crisis. In an effort to improve our crisis response we will participate in the system wide “Code Red” lockdown drill tomorrow morning, March 5th.

A “Code Red” lockdown is defined as a high alert status used when there is an immediate danger in the school or on the property. During this drill, classroom and other doors will be closed and locked. Students will move to secure areas in the classroom, out of view. Students will be asked to sit on the floor in tucked positions. We want you to know that this is a scheduled practice drill and not a real emergency. In the event of a real crisis, School officials will contact you for instructions on when and where to pick up your child.

All 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will be meet with their counselor to select courses for the 2018-2019 school year. Students have either met with their counselor last week or will meet with their counselor this week or next week. The counselors are meeting with students one hallway at a time. The day before your child is scheduled to meet with their counselor, a registration form, a course list and a selection guide will be sent home with your student. Parents are encouraged to go over your student’s choices for the next school year. These are requests and not your child’s schedule; schedules will be created based on these requests next summer. If you have any questions or concerns, please email your child’s counselor.
When your student meets with their counselor, their requested selections will be inputted into power school. The counselor will print a copy of the requests and give it to your child within a week after meeting with them. Parents please look over this printed form and make any changes necessary right on the form. Sign the form and have your student return it to the counseling office as soon as possible.
